Mechanics (Greek Μηχανική) is the branch of physics concerned with the behaviour of physical bodies when subjected to forces or displacements, and the subsequent effect of the bodies on their environment. The discipline has its roots in several ancient civilizations (see History of classical mechanics and Timeline of classical mechanics). During the early modern period, scientists such as Galileo, Kepler, and especially Newton, laid the foundation for what is now known as classical mechanics. The system of study of mechanics is shown in the table below: Branches of mechanicsFrom Wikipedia under the

Most colleges I have applied to had mechanics and statistics and maths but the 6th form I have been offered a place at does mechanics and statistics. What is the difference between them and which one would be more useful for medicine? My instinct lies on statistics but I am not sure! Thanks. Asked by Sparkly Star - Tue Jan 27 16:29:28 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. Statistics would definitely complement medicine more than mechanics. Mechanics is about applying maths to solve physical problems in the real world. It deals with topics such as forces, inertia, energy, statics and dynamics. Mechanics complements more with physical sciences and fields such as engineering, construction, architecture, info technology and manufacturing. Statistics is about collection, analysis, interpretation or explanation, and presentation of data. Important decisions cannot be made without thorough examination of data. Statistics complements a wider range of fields such as banking and finance, biochemical sciences, public sector management and almost anything that need data analysis! Answered by wgh - Tue Jan 27 18:11:16 2009 What car or truck do mechanics own or recommend? Q. I am looking to buy a used car or truck and just wondering what car or truck do mechanics recommend or own. I currently own a '97 Dodge Avenger and have been having a lot of problems with the timing belt (on my second one...spent just about a thousand) and control arms (replaced both twice). So what is a good and reliable used car or truck that may have little maintenance? foreign or domestic the floor is open. Asked by Jon - Fri Apr 11 11:13:48 2008 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. I worked with four top notch mechanics. They specialized in imports. But at night they went home in their Denali or Tahoes. WHY? Simple, they last, they can get parts for them, they are basic to work on and if you break down out in the boon docks, clide the mechanic can work on them. If you don't believe me go to the import shops (where your top techs work) and ask them what truck they drive or just look in the back parking lot, I did it at the Mercedes dealer and yep there they were GM Suv's. Good luck. Personal I have a 99 Denali, no major problems just basic work. 137,000 miles and still going strong. good luck Answered by longvillemn - Fri Apr 11 11:20:59 2008 How can I stop getting hosed by auto mechanics?
Q. I'm a big intelligent guy who looks like he *should* know about cars, however-I only know how to drive them and have no clue what goes under the hood. Thus, I get charged $75 for a battery pan or some such other nonsense everytime i go for a knock or a ping. I have spent thousands, only to get laughed at later by people telling me how overcharged i was. Any ideas? Other than slaughtering the shifty mechanics who just use my extra cash for pay-per-view wrestling? Asked by Randy - Wed Nov 14 12:34:00 2007 - - 12 Answers - 0 Comments A. Damn Randy. Not all mechanics are crooks. Just like not all landlords are a$$holes. (hint hint) Just quit telling people how much you paid and they will stop laughing.
