How do you access a local variable in a function from another function in Visual Basic?
Q. I have a main program that calls two functions. One function asks the user for a length and width of a room and stores the values in those names, the other function calculates the square footage. I need to access the locals variables length and width inside the first function from the second function. Do I do it in the function call in the main program somehow or inside the second function by referencing it somehow?

A. You have to declare them on a module level. If a variable is declared locally, it is not usable elsewhere unless you pass it through the function when the second function is called (it will be part of the parameters).

Excel function to calculate the difference between two columns?
Q. Im having trouble trying to find a formula for excel. This is what I must figure out Use an Excel function to calculate the percent of change (increase or decrease) between the January sales figure and the December sales figure. (formatted as a percent). So is there a formula that calculates the percent of change? Any help would be greatly appreciated, ten points to the best! Thanks again Sorry I didn't word the title question correctly.

A. The formula would be (Dec - Jan) / Dec So if the December sales figure was in cell A1 and the January sales figure was in cell B1 Put this in cell C1 =(A1 - B1)/A1 Right-click on cell C1 and select Format Cells On the Format Cells dialog... - Select the Number Tab - Select "Percentage" in the category list - OK

A. 1. To protect investors and to prevent securities fraud 2. Diversification: spreading the risk over multiple companies rather than buying just the stock of one company, buying a fund that invests in both stocks and bonds (balanced funds) and having the ability to buy several stocks in a single fund without paying multiple trading commissions 3. Asset allocation: buying both stocks and bonds, some large company investments, some small company investments, some for value, some for growth some in different sectors and in different countries 4. Debentures pay fixed interest over long terms of 10-40 years - the interest may be too low and you may not get a good return on your investment or the interest may be too high and the company is… [cont.]
