Star Wars is an epic space opera franchise initially conceived by George Lucas. The first film in the franchise was simply titled Star Wars, but later had the subtitle Episode IV: A New Hope added to distinguish it from its sequels and prequels. It was originally released on May 25, 1977 by 20th Century Fox, and became a worldwide pop culture phenomenon, spawning two immediate sequels released in three-year intervals. Sixteen years after the release of the trilogy's final film, the first in a new prequel trilogy of films was released, again released in three-year intervals, with the final film released on May 19, 2005. As of 2008, the overall box office revenue generated by the six Star Wars films has totalled approximately $4.3 billion, making it the third-highest grossing film series, behind only the James Bond and Harry Potter films. The Star Wars franchise has spawned other media including books, television series, video games, and comic books. These supplements to the film trilogies comprise the Star Wars Expanded Universe, and have resulted in significant development of the series' fictional universe. These media kept the franchise going in the interim between the film trilogies. In 2008, Star Wars: The Clone Wars was released to theaters as the first ever worldwide theatrical Star Wars film outside of the main trilogies. It was the franchise's first animated film, and was intended as an introduction to the Expanded Universe series of the same name, a 3D CGI animated series based on a 2003 animated 2D series, also of the same name. GNU Free Documentation License What Star Wars books should I read up to the Legacy of the Force series? Q. I'm a huge Star Wars fan, and I really want to read the Legacy of the Force series, but I'm trying to read a lot of the major Star Wars books before then so I'll have a better idea of what happened before then. I'm currently reading the Thrawn trilogy, and I've read the first 2 Jedi Academy books. What other books should I read in order to fully understand the Legacy series? Asked by Adam - Thu Jul 31 03:04:36 2008 - - 2 Answers - 2 Comments A. I am also a huge star wars fan and am currently reading the book star by star which is the 10th book in the New Jedi Order series and am on my way to reading the Legacy of the Force books too. But truth be told I am enjoying these books a lot! The plot is really good and each book has me totally addicted. Anyway, as to what books you should read, here is my list of books I think you should read before Legacy. I will also put one of these things * by each book that is really optional and really don't need to read it to understand Legacy, but is still a great read! Also this is completely in order of the star wars timeline of when all these books take place. So here goes... My friends and i are planning on watching all of the star wars movies in one day and i was wondering what time we would need to start and how long it would take Asked by Andrea - Tue Feb 24 23:46:42 2009 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments A. I love all the "guesstimating," but that's impossible to avoid, isn't it? Here is how long each movie is. (With "The Clone Wars" just in case you were thinking of including it.) The Phantom Menace - 2 hours 13 minutes Attack of the Clones - 2 hours 22 minutes The Clone Wars - 1 hour 30 minutes Revenge of the Sith - 2 hours 20 minutes A New Hope - 2 hours 1 minute The Empire Strikes Back - 2 hours 4 minutes Return of the Jedi - 2 hours 14 minutes Add that all together and you get: All together: 14 hours 44 minutes All together (not counting The Clone Wars): 13 hours 14 minutes Of course, that's if you pressed play at the beginning of the first movie and there was no break in between any of the movies. Now you want to factor in the… [cont.] Answered by medleystudios72 - Wed Feb 25 09:33:06 2009 What order should a beginner watch Star Wars?
Q. Alright, I've finally been convinced to give Star Wars a try. I'm completely new to it and anything like it. So tell me, because I'm pretty confused, what order do I watch them in? Asked by Rachel S - Sat Sep 13 20:47:46 2008 - - 12 Answers - 0 Comments A. "Have A Laugh" really should "Get A Clue" because he could not be more WRONG. This question gets asked a lot and while there may be some like "Have A Laugh" who will say to watch them 1 - 6, the simple truth is that if you want to enjoy the full experience of the Star Wars saga then you should watch them ep 4 ep 6 then ep 1 ep 3. Why ... well this is just my "theory" but it holds a couple oceans of water. Start with the fact that they were released that way and that is how the story was meant to be told. Watching them this way will also keep the "suspense" in them. Both of the trilogies "tell" on the secrets of the others but the prequels take much of the suspense out of the OT with some of the info learned in them. There is a scene… [cont.] Answered by Jedi Dude 28 - Sun Sep 14 00:33:17 2008 From Yahoo Answer Search: "Star Wars" From Wikiquote under the GNU Free Documentation License. SWU Interviews Sam Witwer
