Greek letter: Δ (capital) or δ (small) (Delta). The minuscule (lower-case) form of D consists of a loop and a tall vertical stroke. It developed by gradual variations on the majuscule (capital) form. In handwriting, it was common to start the arc to the left of the vertical stroke, resulting in a serif at the top of the arc. You are absolutely right. Tune the last string (the low E) down one full step so it matches the fourth string (Also a D) There are many variations on this tuning, but that is the simplest. It just gives you access to that one additional Bass note, although you have to shift all of your fingerings up two frets afterward. It's not bad once you get used to it and it is fairly easy to retune afterwards. Just match the sixth string back up with the first one. You CAN send them an excel spreadsheet detailing the transactions. Just look at D-1 and match the columns. Some, but not all, brokerages will allow you to download the data.
