Don't buy based on what you want, buy based on what you need. To save on gas, plan your trips and write out your grocery lists before going into the store. Get coupons and stock up on things that are on sale. Especially meats. Make soups that will last all week. And you can also start your own vegetable garden. Its a great hobby and really saves on grocery shopping. You can grow them indoor if you would like, so even that way you can have fresh cheap veggies year-round!!!
