Q. Should the news media strive to be objective and independent of partisan politics? Is this possible?

A. Yes, it should strive to be as objective as possible, but no, it is impossible to be completely independent of partisan politics.

Why does the news media continually stress that Obama would be the 1st Black president when he isn't Black?
Q. Obama is half white, per his own words, and half african descent. Yet the news media keeps harping how he is the 1st "black". He is as much "White" as he is "Black" so why is the press pushing the distinction so much--are they trying to make race an issue again in our country? Why can't they accept he is of mixed race, like many many hispanic people and other people in our country. There is nothing wrong being mixed race, so why is the press ignoring the fact he is not black, just 1/2 black?

A. The media isn't there to report facts. The media is there to sell ad space. Whether it's ads in newspapers or commercials on TV, the job of a reporter is to write stories that will make people read so that the newspaper or TV station can sell more ads. Calling Mr. Obama "black" creates interest among more people than calling him "qualified." Kinda sad, isn't it?

Why does the news media not report viable candidates for President, who have a great plan that pays for itself
Q. See Morris Kent Thompson's positions on you tube, he has a direction and vision that will lead the country out of depression and back to prosperity. How come the news media don't let us know?
Asked by jkoehler9 - Mon Jul 14 18:27:22 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I like Bob Barr, but you don't see anything on him either. Glenn Beck did have him on last week. That's it. The media has already decided who the candidates are. It is shameful.
