High fidelity or hi-fi reproduction is a term used by home stereo listeners and home audio enthusiasts (audiophiles) to refer to high-quality reproduction of sound or images that are very faithful to the original master recording. High-fidelity equipment has minimal or unnoticeable amounts of noise and distortion and an accurate frequency response as set out in 1973 by the German Deutsches Institut für Normung (DIN) standard DIN 45500. The term was most widely used in this strict sense in the 1950s and 1960s; in subsequent decades, the term was applied more loosely to any mid-level stereo system. In the 2000s, hi-fi for expensive high-quality home-audio electronics was largely replaced with high-end audio. From Wikipedia under the

From Google News Search: "HiFi" is there true sound of some HIFI equipment? Q. I had chance to listen to many CD-players, cables and amplifiers and speakers. many of the owners, thinks that their CD-player or some other kind of HIFI device make perfect sound; but it fact it is relative. can you say, for example, that Sony gives true sound while Marantz or Kenwood do not give true sound? or can you say that one cable is the best and all others are not good? this is highly relative and therefore true sound is relative. Asked by Suchness - Mon Nov 12 08:50:17 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. True sound definitely IS relative. Even minute details like the ground elevation you are at on the Earth affects tonal quality. As for 'natural sound', I have found that the most natural feeling, pleasing tones come from receivers and amps that are tube driven. They provide a great tonal warmth that is lacking in most digital / solid state equipment. As for myself, I have a Sansui receiver from the mid-'70's and a pair of Fisher floor speakers, and I get great sound from them. Q. & would they work with an normal car amp ? Asked by Dan B - Tue Mar 25 03:32:57 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. yes they would, but they will suck the power from the amp. see home speakers are normally 8 ohm, car is 4 ohm, and most car amps will produce about half the power (3db drop in volume) into a 8 ohm load. But yes it will work fine, with no negative effects. Answered by Rick G - Tue Mar 25 08:44:15 2008 From Yahoo Answer Search: "HiFi" |
