The automotive industry designs, develops, manufactures, markets, and sells the world's motor vehicles. The automotive industry is one of the most important economic sectors by revenue. The term automotive industry usually does not include industries dedicated to automobiles after delivery to the customer, such as repair shops and motor fuel filling stations. Worldwide TrendsIn 2007, worldwide production reached a peak at a total of 73.3 million new motorvehicles produced worldwide. In 2009, worldwide motorvehicle production dropped 13.5 percent to 61 million. Sales in the U.S. dropped 21.2 percent to 10.4 million units, sales in the European Union (supported by scrapping incentives in many markets) dropped 1.3 percent to 14.1 million units. China became the world's largest motorvehicles market, both by sales as by production. Sales in China rose 45 percent in 2009 to 13.6 million units. In recent years, private Chinese manufacturers emerge. About 250 million vehicles are in use in the United States. Around the world, there were about 806 million cars and light trucks on the road in 2007; they burn over 260 billion gallons of gasoline and diesel fuel yearly. In the opinion of some, urban transport systems based around the car have proved unsustainable, consuming excessive energy, affecting the health of populations, and delivering a declining level of service despite increasing investments. Many of these negative impacts fall disproportionately on those social groups who are also least likely to own and drive cars. The sustainable transport movement focuses on solutions to these problems. From Wikipedia under the
GNU Free Documentation License What kind of automotive service and repair fraud are there? Q. I need to write a 3 page research paper on automotive service, and repair fraud. any ideas? who is targeted frequency common fraudulent practice etc also i need a suggestion to make it safer for consumers. Asked by 2nd Commander - Tue Oct 23 20:17:36 2007 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. Targets are generally frequent customers, women, and public naive in auto repair and cost. Fraudulent practice is usually severed belts, punctured A/C systems, damaged suspension components, damaged lines holding fluids, punctured tires etc. Taking old parts and cleaning them up to look new and then selling them as new parts. Safer for a customer, take a vehicle to a person you can trust or take an expert with you. Answered by tercentenary98 - Tue Oct 23 21:30:33 2007 What is the best way to learn automotive technology and engineering? Q. I would like to do the stuff that you see the people in the fast and furious movies do like tuning, etc. Please give suggestions other than like automotive school. Books and other stuff would be fine. Thanks! Asked by djdonuts - Tue Jan 5 01:44:42 2010 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. well, you're in the right place. I would use the internet to its full capacity and do some research here. Yahoo (search engine) can help you find the pages where people talk about cars, and you can search published articles and even peoples opinions and personal experience. This may be BETTER than what you can read in a book published maybe 10 years ago. You can look at sites like car and driver and even car forums (find with a search engine) to find what specifically interests you. If someone uses a term or phrase you don't understand, use wikipedia.org to find its meaning. Or just ask a more specific question here in the automotive section. Then, after you have gained some insight, you can decide if some school or automotive… [cont.] Answered by Speckfisher425 - Tue Jan 5 02:00:24 2010 How hard is it to replace automotive carpet? How much is it?
Q. I know that the seats have to come out, and possibly the seat belts, too. Then the carpet goes in. Sounds like a pretty big job. How hard is it? How much does it cost to hire somebody to do it? Also - If nobody knows the answer - is there a good automotive forum where I can ask this question? Thanks! Asked by Joe D - Wed Dec 16 16:02:00 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. all that and more comes out. A lot of the trim by the doors and if its a car with the shifter on the floor then some work there also. Its really not that big of a job and you will feel good about yourself when its done. Make sure its done in a warm area because things lay out better then.A mechanic should be able to do it in 4 to 5 hours , so what ever the rate is times the hours is your answer. No forum that i know of. Answered by Danny - Wed Dec 16 23:23:15 2009 From Yahoo Answer Search: "Automotive"
