Transfer to Stanford???
Q. hi! I want to shoot for Stanford as a transfer. I have a 4.0 GPA in high school. I am international, from Azerbaijan. I am enrolled at a Business School in Europe. I will do my best to earn a 4.0 GPA at college. My SATs are 1450, Toefl is 100, SAT 2 are 770 (math 2), 720 (phys), 640 (us hist). I have strong recommendations. I was valedictorian in high school, also student council president. I require substancial financial aid. I have extracurricular activities with leadership skills and etc. This is the full picture of me now. If I maintain a 4.0 GPA in college, what are my chances, realistically? Can you get to Stanford from a business school? Has anyone here ever transfered to an Ivey league school, or knows someone who did that? Does… [cont.]

A. No one can really answer your question. Stanford rejects a large number of highly qualified students because they get far more applications than that can accept. If you need financial aid, it is even harder. You may be accepted at a school but not offered financial aid. All you can do is apply and see what happens. It is best to apply to several schools of your choice. Good luck.

Christians genuinely are being persecuted; why do people deny it?
Q. Egypt: Islamic lawyers charge a Christian convert with apostacy. He is in hiding and has been beaten in the street. Egypt: The Foreign Ministry ignored an application from the Center for Human Rights to invite an international commission to conduct a census of Copts. Ain Shams, Egypt: A Coptic jewelry shop was robbed and staff were beaten but the police won't investigate. A Muslim man killed a Copt and beat his son. Egypt: Authorities recently sentenced six Christian brothers to three years in prison for opening their cafe during Ramadan (video). Abu Korkas, Egypt: Christian lawyer gets six-month prison sentence and a fine for complaining about an Islamist judge. Egypt: An initiative seeks common law in the construction and… [cont.]

A. Thank you for posting this Paperback. Apparently a lot of the people responding don't realize you aren't Christian, but Jewish. The rationale given by many of these posters is that because the Christians of past generations persecuted others, the Christians of today should pay for it. That's a sorry reason to persecute any group--because someone in that group did something or was thought to do something hundreds of years ago. And as for secular humanists not persecuting anyone that is a JOKE. Just because you don't persecute in the name of God doesn't mean it's not persecution. Christians in the US whine so much about being disagreed with, it has jaded some people into thinking that Christians aren't being really persecuted in other… [cont.]

The ICJ have ruled today that the Kosovan declaration of independence was legal, so what about other "regions"?
Q. If it was legal for Kosovo to break away from within the national borders of Serbia then is it not also the case that the same is true for Abkhazia and South Ossetia (from Gerorgia), Nagorno Karabakh (from Azerbaijan), Transnistria (from Moldova) etc etc? Have the ICJ (International Court of Justice) in effect, in real terms, now just basically ruled that any region has the legitimate, legal right to secede from within internationally recognised borders as long as a majority living in a region want to do so? That is exactly what Kosovo did and now the ICJ have said "fine, it's legal"...Thanks.
