Q. I whant to know what is the porpose of the MRB in manufacturing aviation parts? Are they permited to change the design factors and how?

A. The MRB is an internal function of your quality manufacturing system. This generally is in a larger company, but a smaller company can utilize one also. The board consists of representatives from engineering, quality, manufacturing, and purchasing. Their task is to evaluate raw materials available from various vendors that meet or exceed the specification for the part as noted in material specifications. The idea is to make sure that there is control maintained over purchased products to ensure the integrity of the final product. Material certifications should always be provided and maintained on file. Sometimes new materials or process materials such as chemicals become available that may be of benefit to your product and or processes in… [cont.]
