What aviation jobs can someone do while training to be a pilot?
Q. What jobs in the aviation field would you recommend to do to help pay for flight training? I'd like to get a job while getting flight lessons but I'd like to work at an airport where I can get experience while still getting my licenses and ratings. Thanks in advance.

A. I worked at the flight school I originally got my Private at being an aircraft refueler. Consider that, or front desk at a flight school, perhaps work operations at the airport (city job)... Also, if you have hangars on your field, you can go to the hangars and see if any of the guys down there have any odd jobs like cleaning or washing that you can do for cash.

A. They are just different areas of the aircraft. Avionics are the electronics of the aircraft such as insturments and communication equipment. Aircraft maintenance is a more broad area covering general maintenance of the aircraft and servicing.

Aviation refers to flying using aircraft, machines designed by humans for atmospheric flight. More generally, the term also describes the activities, industries, and regulatory bodies associated with aircraft.

  • When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return.
  • No bird soars too high, if he soars with his own wings.
  • Pilots take no special joy in walking. Pilots like flying.
  • The way I see it, you can either work for a living or you can fly airplanes. Me, I'd rather fly.
  • Pilots are a rare kind of human. They leave the ordinary surface of the word, to purify their soul in the sky, and they come down to earth, only after receiving the communion of the infinite.
  • If God had intended us to fly, He would have given us wings.
    • Anonymous proverb. Note that many humorous variations have been made from this, replacing the second half of the sentence with things such as, "He would have given us more money" or "He would have bought us the tickets" or in the quixotic commentery of Michael Flanders, "he would never have given us railways".
  • If God had intended us to fly, he wouldn't have invented Spanish air traffic control.
