I am looking for a teammate for adventure sports, what is a good source for locating them in my area?
Q. I would like to start participating in adventure races, however, I have little experience and would like to team up with some one that knows what they are doing, and learn from them. Is there a source for locating folks that enjoy doing this kind of thing? Thanks

A. Go out one Sunday with a bow and arrow and hunt someone. Be sure to use tranquilizer tips rather than barbed tips... you don't want to kill the person! Just bring them down, strap them to a chair in a deserted log cabin, pour benzine over them and ask them if they're keen on joining your adventure sports team whilst threateningly drawing on a cigarette centimeters away from your prospective partner's gasoline soaked skin. That should do the trick and whatsmore, with you behind them, they're bound to run/row/climb/swim like the wind!

A. Considering some of the other names in use, this sounds very reasonable and the logo sounds fine as well. You might need to add a location to the name, such as Adventure Sports Lessons of xxx to make it easier to find by people using the Internet. Take a look at the names of some of the schools accredited by the NSSIA. Many are named after a recognized person or have a location as part of their name. If you contact the NSSIA they can give you some other ideas as well.

In other words, the perceived danger or adrenaline rush is high, but statistically, the chance of getting seriously injured or killed is low. That's the whole appeal. Free solo climbing, mountaineering and base jumping are examples of some of the more daring thrill sports.
